Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina was established pursuant to the Law on Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Official Gazette of BiH, number 12/04).
The Agency is an independent legal entity with public competencies within its scope of work and jurisdiction, and is accountable to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Headquarters of the Agency is in Sarajevo.
General duties of the Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina are to provide the following:
Uniform implementation of the insurance laws between the Entities, as well as smooth and efficient cooperation between the Insurance Supervisory Agencies of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Srpska, and an equitable implementation and interpretation of the Entity laws.
Full reconciliation of the Entities’ insurance legislations to provide an equal and just treatment of all insurance organizations in both Entities and the District of Brcko of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to provide an equal legal protection to the insurers and the claimants.
